Hello. It’s so nice to have you here!
Hi! My name is Peyton. I am so excited you’re here. Hopefully this means you’re interested in exploring the world of organic kitchen gardening - and you’re in just the right place!
I haven’t always been a gardener - in fact, I hadn’t kept a plant alive until 2017. We moved into our apartment, my mom gifted me a Fiddle Fig - and BOOM - the plant lover in me was born. This grew into a desire to grow veggies on our small porch - I’ve always been interested in living a self-sufficient & sustainable life style, and this was the most tangible way to do that in the space we had at the time. God gave us this one Earth - and we are called to be good stewards of it, by being aware of our impact and making that impact smaller where we can.
When we moved into our home in Senoia in 2020, the first thing on my list was to get a garden into the backyard. We put in four in-ground beds. I definitely dove in over my head that first year - but it grew in me a passion for gardening. I am someone who doesn’t like to sit still and what I love most about the garden is that it is always changing, always giving me something new to notice. I have been gardening in the same space now for almost four years and it’s been vastly different each season, always keeping me on my toes.
I also love how I am reminded of God in the Garden. He designed those seeds to germinate and grow into what they were meant to be - just like us. And just like us - plants can face challenges - pests, disease, etc - and we as the gardeners are called to slow down long enough to notice those things and develop the right solution. Physically, gardening keeps me moving, but mentally it requires me to slow down - it’s the balance I need in this ever faster world we live in.
My Mission:
My mission here at Simply Rooted is to make Organic Kitchen Gardening accessible to anyone. I am focused on the south-side of Atlanta - Senoia, Peachtree City and surrounding areas.
Starting a garden can be overwhelming. I want to walk you through the process from start to garden. I’ve experimented on my own garden - and have worked out a great system that I can implement for you in your own back yard! We can start as small as a few containers of greens - or build out raised beds, and install a wide variety of plants for you to harvest from any time of the year.
98% of our population relies on the other 2% who are farmers and ranchers - feeding us with the fruits of their labor. I want to empower families to be as self-sufficient as possible, know where their food comes from - and by growing their own food, eat foods that are higher in vitamin and mineral content than what comes from our grocery stores. By building strong soil health in your back yard, the food that you grow there will be more nutrient dense than what we buy at the store. Those foods have been grown on land that has been cultivated year after year, diminishing the nutrients it has to give.
Let me help empower you to become a confident, self-sufficient gardener!
